We know of its use as a ritual beverage since the Maya. Throughout history it was almost exclusively available to royalty, and even traded as a currency. In the 1700s vanilla was recommended by physicians and alchemists to be drunk as a tincture or infusion in order to ensure male potency. Bezaar Zimmerman, a German physician, in his article, "On Experiences" (1762) claimed that, "No fewer than 342 impotent men, by drinking vanilla decoctions, had changed into astonishing lovers of at least as many women."
Vanilla's warm, pleasurable scent is at once sensual and erotic, sweet and innocent, helping to dissolve inhibitions and make one feel at home in their body. Sophisticated, calm, and relaxed. A whiff of the flask throughout the extraction process was giggle-inducing💕
Vanilla has been prescribed since the 17th century as a remedy for anxiety and depression, and recent studies show its effectiveness both as an internal medicine and aromatherapy for these conditions. It can be a challenge to let go when things feel chaotic, dark, messy. Vanilla helps to relax the senses, bolster immunity, and help one to create grounded and pleasurable solutions.
